What students say about their BridgeBlitz journey

Voices from players who represented India at youth world-level events.

Walking into the venue for WYTC 2024 was simply overwhelming and surreal. Every board and every pair required us to revise and change strategy, which made the game mentally intense. We may not have been on the podium, but qualifying for the finals in our first youth pairs event stood out. Looking back, I focus less on the 'could haves' and more on what we did well and what we can improve next time. Even with ups and downs, I am grateful for my team, family, friends, mentors, and especially my partner's reassurance throughout the event.

The World Bridge Transnational Youth Championships was unparalleled in learning and competition. From the adrenaline of tough bidding and contracts to the joy of converting them, each day brought major lessons. The biggest takeaway was teamwork, strategic planning, and learning how to rise after setbacks while staying calm in both victory and loss.

Going to WYTC was a unique and exciting experience for me. The boards were thought-provoking and difficult, and they helped me identify mistakes and strengthen weaknesses. My teammates were incredibly encouraging, and we kept improving by discussing what went wrong and what to do better next. Overall, it was an amazing experience that made me a stronger Bridge player.

My WYTC experience was tiresome but thrilling and enriching. Every board was unique and designed to force planning, analysis, and better decisions under pressure. The first few days were gruelling, but as the tournament progressed I adapted to the pressure. The six days were exhausting, but the learning and growth were limitless.

Going to WYTC this year was one of the most fun and memorable experiences I have had. It was nerve-racking at first to play stronger opponents, but after the first match I was excited for every day ahead. What I loved most was that each board was unique, with a new challenge to solve every day. Overall, it increased both my skills and my passion for Bridge.
